Some of our Voice Gurus recently volunteered to help out with Y Sort it's Battle of Bands event. They were doing this under the  banner of “Wrecked and Wasted events” www.wreckedwd.co.uk, which promotes the experience of teenagers being present in licensed premises and having a good time with or without alcohol in a drug free environment.

The first heat with four bands took place on Friday 24 August in Cheers bar in Dumbarton. Carinna McMillan (Senior Ops Manager in Connected World Glasgow) took on the role of compere for the evening and eight volunteer Voice Gurus attended to help facilitate the event.

We have our own celebrity Gurus - David Flavell and Rob Shah who are in a very successful band called Hip Parade. The band has agreed to play at the final on Friday 30 November in Cheers bar for free!  David also agreed to be one of the judges at the two heats, the second heat taking place on Friday 14 September.  Guru Robert Brogan is also a judge representing New Rhythms, a community music project and registered charity, which aims to promote community engagement and social inclusion through the performing arts.  Robert is the Chairman of New Rhythms no less!

The first and second heats were a great success, and we can't wait for the grand final on the 30th November.  Guru Andy Laing will be the official photographer for the night, with Guru Simon Forbes promoting the forthcoming events on his radio station Sonar FM http://www.sonarfm.co.uk/ where he’ll be broadcasting the final live!
