Our Connected World Gurus are branching out and working with one of our local communities in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.  We really wanted to connect with the youth community to support and engage them in things that really matter to them.  So, we teamed up with a local organisation called Y sort-it.

Y Sort it is an innovative youth project that provides information and support to young people aged 12 to 25.  Based in Clydebank, they have drop-in facilities to support young carers, young mums and young people looking for support and assistance.  They have their own internet suite with free internet access and chill-out areas. In addition to this using their own Outreach team and their own Mobile Information Cyber Station (think of it as a bus with a Gadget station with laptops, plasmas, gaming consoles) they’re out and about in the local streets helping folks with a broad range of things.

How are our Gurus helping?

The Gurus are offering their extensive technical knowledge to support the kit on the Cyber Station, as well as the youngsters who visit it. No technical challenge is too big or too small for them!  A number of Gurus from Connected World and our Retail stores have already completed the Y sort-it volunteer training.  As you’d expect, lots of our Gurus are accomplished gamers who love being able to pass on their skills and tips as well as being challenged as well!

But that's not all, Y sort-it wanted to organise a “Battle of the Bands” event for their youngsters.  They were doing this under the  banner of “Wrecked and Wasted events” www.wreckedwd.co.uk, which promotes the experience of teenagers being present in licensed premises and having a good time with or without alcohol in a drug free environment.  They really needed help from our Gurus volunteers to pull this off with some style. Photo's and more information from the event to follow very soon!!!
