Supporting our Local Community

With the help of the generous donation from the O2 & Capita Partnership Glasgow, Think Big Team, Glasgow University Athletics Club was able to raise £549.10. This money will be split between three groups: Glasgow University Athletics Club, The Beatson Pebble Appeal, and Revive MS Support.

Here’s a bit about the fantastic Clubs/Charities that have benefited from this much needed Money.

Glasgow University Athletics Club 

Glasgow University Athletics Club provides a range of services for students aged from 17-25, in the hope of keeping them active and involved in sport. The friendly training sessions cater for athletes of all abilities from total beginners to professional athletes (well one); we encourage everyone to perform to their best and competition is encouraged against personal performance and not others. Along with the usual track and field exercises we offer a buddy-system for when times get tough due to external factors like being away from home, stress of university and mental health issues. Our senior members are trained in mental health and the money raised will help ensure this training and the physical environment can continue.

The Beatson Pebble Appeal

The Beatson Pebble Appeal provides financial support to the exciting cancer research taking place in Glasgow. The aim of the appeal is to provide the most up-to-date facilities and equipment, to help attract world-class cancer research scientists to drive the vital work taking place in Glasgow. This charity was chosen due to the fantastic work they do with all their patients.  

Revive MS support

Revive MS support is a charity that provides vital therapy, advice and support to people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the heart of communities across the West of Scotland in order to enhance their well-being and empower them to live full and productive lives. One in 500 people in Scotland have MS and as a club we wanted to show our support. The services provided include physiotherapists, support and care providers, specialised classes, information, and oxygen chambers.  

We have been able to provide a significant financial contribution to the 2 chosen charities as well as being able to continue to provide the much needed additional activities of the Athletics club and all due to the generous donation of O2 & Capita Partnership Glasgow, Think Big Team.
